Do you still wake up at your usual workweek time, even when you're on vacation and you've turned off your alarm?
 
That's what happened to me during my two-week vacation. I was happy this morning to return to work. My body clock felt vindicated.
 
I stayed home for the most part, but I concluded my time off with a trip to Los Angeles for HostCon. It's an annual convention of "Morning Edition" hosts from around the country, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We met at KCRW in Santa Monica and at NPR West in Culver City. We griped about our lack of sleep, of course, but we gushed about how much we love doing live radio and bringing you the news of your community first thing in the morning.

NPR "Morning Edition" host David Greene told us how he balances his on-air duties with reporting on stories like  . He's as nice and generous as he sounds on your radios and smart speakers.

NPR newscaster Korva Coleman revealed what she called her "analog" habit of reading her stories off of blue paper instead of a computer screen. I thought of her this morning when the studio computer froze with minutes to go before my 6:00 a.m. newscast. (I dashed to my desk, printed out my scripts with seconds to spare and did my newscast Coleman-style.)
